Crafter's Choice Challenge!

Happy Saturday to you! Lisa here to highlight our new challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

We're calling it Crafter's Choice and that means as long as you use Hero Arts products, you qualify. We have a few other rules, so make sure to check our the Challenge Rules page to make sure you can win one of the two awesome prizes.

I interpreted the challenge as "use something that needs a bit more love before you put it away while cleaning up your holiday craft mess". Sound familiar? I bet it does!

I used the Snowflake & Ornament Fancy Die to create this tag. I needed a gift tag for someone that I wouldn't see until January, so this is perfect. Using the outer portion of the die, I cut the tag from some light colored chipboard. I then used the inside snowflake portion with an embossing sandwich in my die cutting machine to make an impression. I used a Versamarker to "color" the bits that were embossed; I did this in sections and sprinkled on Satin Pearl embossing powder as I went along. I also used the marker and the embossing powder on the outside edge and the hanger portion of the die cut.

After protecting the snowflake portion with the satin embossing powder I used some colored markers to fill in the negative section of the tag. I let that dry for a few minutes and then used a Versamark pad to cover the entire piece and embossed that again with the Satin Pearl embossing powder. I set that aside to cool and used the outer die cut on a piece of Acetate for a space to place my sentiment. I stamped the sentiment in Staz-On ink, as that is the perfect ink for acetate. I highly recommend using a stamping tool when stamping on a slick surface, definitely helps to keep the stamping nice and neat!

To adhere the acetate portion to the chipboard portion, I just used a piece of ribbon from my stash through the hole at the top. Very easy, and no need to worry about hiding any adhesive. As a last bit of shimmer I wrapped some iridescent twine around the hanger and adhered that in back. This picture show just how shimmery and glossy this tag is, I might have a hard time giving it away. Ha!

Thanks for joining us today, I do hope you'll head over to A Blog Named Hero and join us for this month's challenge!
