Flat See Through Hanukkah Shaker

Hello! Jessica here with a sparkly flat see through Hanukkah shaker card inspired by my crafty friend, Ilda!

To start I stamped the menorah and sentiment from Mazel Tov with Embossing & Watermark ink and heat-embossed it with Silver embossing powder. Then I colored the menorah with Copic markers. I used the Nesting Square Infinity Dies to cut out the menorah and sentiment from Dove White cardstock and then die-cut a slightly larger square using Periwinkle cardstock. While I was at it I trimmed a panel of Dove White cardstock to 4.5" by 9" and scored it at 4.5" to create a 4.5" square card base.

Next I took a cellophane sleeve I sometimes use for packaging cards and slid a panel of acetate inside that I had trimmed to a 4.5" square. This gives the sleeve a little stability but still allows it to be see through! Then I filled the sleeve with a random assortment of flat shaker bits, Snowfall, and Icicle Glitter that I've been hoarding over the years. You could also use sequins or even cut up bits of cardstock to create tiny confetti pieces!

Then I lined up the bottom of the cello sleeve with the folded edge of the card base. I folded the open end of the cello sleeve over one flap of the card base and adhered it to the inside of the card base. I used a tape runner to seal the cello sleeve shut and then added adhesive inside the card base. I closed the card base sealing the open edge of the cello sleeve inside. So now the front of the card is the flat shaker and the entire card base makes up the back flap of the card base. I hope that makes sense...if it doesn't, feel free to leave a comment and I'll try to clarify!

I'm so happy I gave this technique a try because I really love how it turned out! I have a feeling that a lot more of these see through shakers are in my future. Thank so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

I, too, appreciate this card, Jess. It’s a challenge to make cards for my Jewish cousin. and the technique is good for many other cards, too!

Thankk you, thank you, thank you, Jessica and Hero Arts! I often feel left out of the holiday season beause there are very few Hanukkah card demos out there. This one is truly fabulous. Would love to see a video!!
