Gilding Flakes and Ink Blending

Good morning! Jess here with a bold and sparkly card featuring the On the Prairie die! I've seen a lot of trendy decor featuring gilded skulls or sparkly antlers and decided to use that as inspiration for my card design!

To start I die-cut the skull from On the Prairie using an off-white natural cardstock. Then I added liquid adhesive to the horns and pressed gold gilding flake into the adhesive. I also used a paintbrush to add a little liquid adhesive around the rest of the skull and pressed more gilding flake into the adhesive. I let the glue dry completely and brushed the excess flake away with a swiffer cloth. I also die-cut the flowers from the set with black paper from the midnight layering papers and added liquid adhesive and gold gilding flake to a few of them.

Next I blended Ocean and Tide Pool ink onto a piece of white cardstock. I let it dry completely and then stamped the Blanket Pattern Bold Prints background stamp with versamark and heat-embossed it with Detail Black embossing powder. I stamped the cheeky sentiment from To Seize or Not To Seize onto black cardstock and heat-embossed it with White embossing powder. I trimmed that down to a thin label and adhered it to the skull. Then I adhered the skull to the background panel with foam mounting tape and added the floral elements around the skull with a mix of regular and foam mounting tape.

I love the mixture of textures and dimension in this card and the sparkle from the gold gilding flake just makes it pop! Who would have thought a skull could be so pretty? ;) Anyway, thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day!

Wow Jess, this is awesome. I didn’t know that you could use liquid adhesive and gilding flakes together. Thanks for the tip.
