Happy 5th Anniversary A Blog Named Hero! Blog hop!

We are so excited to join in the 5th Anniversary celebration for A Blog Named Hero. We are thankful for the passion that they have for Hero Arts and all of the ways that they inspire others to create beautiful projects. There will be many great ideas in today’s blog hop and we are happy to be a part of it! To start things off we asked our Creative Team designer, Jayne Nelson to share a project….

Jayne: I’m so thrilled to be participating in today’s blog hop, celebrating the 5th anniversary of A Blog Named Hero. I’ve been quietly reading the blog and admiring the wonderful projects from all of the talented designers and guest designers for many years. The blog is a constant source of beautiful inspiration and best of all, we share a love of Hero Arts stamps!

So today, in honor of A Blog Named Hero’s anniversary, I’m sharing a celebration themed card. Not only could this card be used to celebrate an anniversary, but it would work equally well for a birthday card or a congratulation card. I started by stamping a pair of Color Layering Koi fish onto white layering paper with Tangerine, Soft Granite, and Intense Black inks. Before cutting around the images with the coordinating frame cuts, I used the first fish layer to stamp over the detailed images with VersaMark ink and then I embossed the images with clear embossing powder. Though it’s hard to see in the pictures, the clear embossing powder gives the fish a familiar translucent quality.

Next, I applied some blue watercolors, with a few paint drops, to a trimmed piece of white cardstock. After deciding where to position the fish, I used the koi frame cut to cut two fish shapes from the watercolored panel and then I inlaid the stamped fish into the negative shapes. To secure the fish, I applied adhesive tape on the back. I stamped and embossed three celebration sentiments from the Birthday Animal Silhouettes set. I love the sentiments in this set – they are easy to read and easy to emboss!

I edged the panel with a narrow strip of black cardstock and then secured it to a blue card base with foam tape. I added a few Ombre Ocean sequins, with adhesive dots, above and below the sentiments and then tied the card with a black twine bow. I’d like to send my sincerest “Congratulations” on five amazing years to everyone, past and present, at A Blog Named Hero! Best “Fishes” for continued success!
