How To Make Colors Pop

Hello there, Michelle Short here, sharing a card using the new Spring Whimsy collection. Although this collection is perfect for spring themed cards, it also works for all year round cards too. Today I have a thinking of you card to share.

I started off my card by stamping one of the butterflies from Special Day Butterfly onto Vellum Layering Paper using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. It was die cut out using the coordinating die.

I then die cut the Butterfly Confetti Fancy Die from Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock. I popped seven butterflies from the negative and added ink blending to them using Core Inks and Small Ink Blending Brushes.

I used Ultra Pink for the pink butterfly, Papaya for the orange butterfly, Dandelion for the yellow butterfly, Paradise for the aqua green butterfly, Summer Sky for the blue butterfly, Indigo & Grape Juice for the dark purple butterfly, and Orchid for the violet butterfly. I focused the ink towards the bottom of the butterflies and left the tops a little lighter.

I stamped the sentiment from Special Day Butterfly onto Pitch Black Cardstock using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. It was die cut out using the coordinating die.

I created an A2 sized card base from Pitch Black Cardstock and then ran it though my die cutting machine with the largest of the Rounded Rectangle Infinity Dies to round the corners.

TIP: Add a piece of scrap paper underneath the card base so you do not get the cutting lines from the cutting plate transfer onto the back of the card.

I adhered the sentiment onto the vellum butterfly first and then added small dabs of Precision Glue behind where the sentiment covered it (so no glue shows through the vellum) and then adhered it to the card. I then adhered the smaller butterflies with Precision Glue also, allowing the wings to pop up slightly. To finish, I embellished with Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems.

I wanted to use a black card base for my card because not only does it automatically make the colors pop, it also represents color and light shining through darkness, which I think is prertty appropriate for a thinking of you card. Thank you so much for visiting today. I hope you have a wonderful day!
