January My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + giveaway!

Welcome back to our countdown, leading up to the launch of our January My Monthly Hero kit! Yesterday we shared a gorgeous card by Lucy, and mentioned she played a special role in the creation of this kit. Have you guessed what that might be? If you follow Lucy, you'll know that she loves sequins and is the master of the shaker card! For our January kit, Lucy created a beautiful, exclusive sequin mix she's called "True Love".

Some of the dies in the kit were designed with shaker cards in mind - but remain versatile enough to use on their own if shaker cards aren't your thing! In tomorrow's post, we'll show a closer look at some of these dies. Today, Lucy has combined the dies and sequins to create a gorgeous shaker card - take it away, Lucy! Hello. The January My Monthly Hero kit is perfect for shaker cards, and my card today features a bit of almost everything in the kit - the fabulous dies, stamps and a sprinkling of the exclusive sequin mix that I designed for the kit.

To make the card, I first die cut the heart from Snow Layering Paper, then cut the heart frame around it. I stitched between the two hearts, then backed the die cut heart with acetate. I stamped the sentiment beneath the heart, then die cut the word Valentine from black cardstock and adhered it to the card. I created a pile of shaker mix on a Blush Folded Card from the kit, then backed the die cut panel with foam tape (making sure there were no gaps around the window section) and adhered it to the card, trapping the sequins into the window. And that's it. Simple.
