Kaleidoscope Patterns with the Spiral Stencil

When I saw the new Wintertime products for the first time, I was immediately drawn to a few sets that I'd like to use to make my Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards. However, I'm not quite ready to start making my holiday cards yet, but I am very excited to use the new products! There are so many beautiful products that can be used to create cards for all types of occasions. Today, I've created a card using one of the new, versatile stencils to create an encouragement card with graphic, kaleidoscope patterns.

To make my card, I started by creating a standard A2 card base with navy cardstock. I covered all but the lower portion of the card front with a piece of coral cardstock that I trimmed with a narrow strip of white layering paper. Using the beautiful, new Spiral Stencil, I made a collection of nine, kaleidoscope "medallions" that I layered and adhered along the top portion of the card.

To make the medallions, I started by die cutting various sizes of circles, using the Circle Infinity Dies, from masking paper. One at a time, I placed a circle mask over a piece of white cardstock, positioned the center of the Spiral Stencil at the center of the circle mask, and then inked over the stencil with either Soft Cantaloupe, Dusty Blue, or Navy ink. After inking each masked circle, I used the next larger circle die to cut around each inked pattern, leaving a narrow, white border along the edge.

I arranged the medallions across the top half of the card front, securing some with a tape runner and others with foam tape, and then I trimmed any pieces that extended beyond the card's edges. To soften the design, I added a small flower from the Little Florals set that I embossed onto navy cardstock and die cut with the coordinating dies. I also added a supportive sentiment, similarly embossed on a navy cardstock strip, from the You Are Loved Messages set. For a final, shiny detail, I scattered five, clear gemstones across the card.
