And we’re back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the May My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, May 1st at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We’ll be here all weekend long, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will be available on Monday. Good morning! As I said yesterday, I’m having WAY too much fun with this kit so I decided to sneak in for another countdown post! :) This month’s kit includes some fabulous papers and I wanted to focus on one of them along with some of the included fancy dies!
One of the included papers is a GORGEOUS marble tissue that has shades of blue, purple and metallic gold. I decided to make a card that would really allow the paper to take center stage! I started by stamping fish from the kit and one of the add-on sets on black cardstock with Versamark and then heat-embossed them with gold embossing powder. I grouped them in schools and mixed the solid and outline shapes to create the illusion of depth within the ocean. The fish farther off in the distance are solid and lack the detail of the fish closer up! Then I stamped the sentiment and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I flicked gold metallic paint across the black cardstock to create bubbles in the water and set it aside to dry.
I considered using dark blue cardstock for my base but I thought the black allowed the marble paper to really shine! While my background was drying I die-cut the marble tissue with the included fancy dies. The tissue paper is lightweight and you can easily curve your paper to make the kelp look more realistic! Once my background was dry I glued the dies down. I used small dots of liquid glue along the stem so that the leaves were loose. When the liquid glue was dry I curled the leaves around a toothpick slightly to create more texture and dimension. I wish I could have gotten a better photo to show you just how dazzling the gold metallic is against the black cardstock!
