Stretching Your Dies + Rainbow Skies

Hi crafty friends! It's Jeannie and today, I'm sharing a card using a window die and stretching its use for a pretty, voluminous look.

To create this card, I started with a piece of Deluxe Smooth White cardstock along with the Hero Hues Core Inks. I split and masked my card panel in half and used Indigo and Summer Sky for the ocean and blended them using Medium Blending Brushes randomly to cover the bottom portion of the card panel. Then I masked off the other half and decided to blend lightly some rainbow skies using the colors: Ultra Pink, Butter Bar, Fresh Lawn, Cornflower, and Orchid. I kept the colors that blend well together next to each other but the blend is so light, that I didn't mix the colors too much so you don't have to worry about it becoming muddy.

I am focusing this card on the Tropical Foliage Window Die. It's a great window die that allows you to create your own mini scene but gives it a dramatic look because of the silhouettes that frames it. I die cut the Tropical Foliage Window Die using Pitch Black cardstock and place it right on top of my blended card panel. I chose to show off more of the rainbow sky than the ocean.

This card is perfect as is but I wanted to step it up a bit. I chose two green colored cardstock panels to use the Tropical Foliage Window Die: Shamrock and Meadow. Once die cut, I actualy trimmed out the silhouette images and arranged them around the card panel. I love the contrast of the two colors to really make it look like you're looking through the forest, peering into the ocean.

To finish off this card, I used the "Thinking of You" sentiment from the Wild Flowers stamp set, stamped with Intens-ified Black ink, right on the ink-blended portion of the card.

I hope you enjoyed the card and got some ideas to step up your window dies. Thank you for stopping by!

Such a beautiful look with all the foliage layers, Jeannie! Hero Arts has great window dies to use with this technique!
