Sometimes when I send a card to a friend, especially if we aren’t able to see each other in person, I like to include a small, unexpected gift card for something that I hope will bring a smile to their day. So, inspired by the current Stay Crafty Challenge, I decided to make some cards with easy gift card holders for my stash. Using some fun new products from the 2021 Catalog Collection, I made three cards, each with the same simple gift card holder on the front.
For my first card, I started by making a side-folding card base with Adriatic cardstock. To create a simple gift card holder on the front of the card, I die cut two pieces of Dove White cardstock with two Rectangle Infinity Dies, one 2.75” x 4” panel and one 3” x 4.25” panel. I die cut a semicircle notch along the upper edge of the smaller panel with the 1” Circle Infinity Die. After cutting the notch, I stamped the panel with the new Circular Grid Bold Prints background using Green Hills ink.
Next, I temporarily positioned a gift card on the back of the stamped panel, aligning the panel’s notched edge with one end of the gift card. I applied strips of foam tape to the cardstock along both sides and directly below the gift card to ensure that the gift card will be easy to access. Then, I secured this panel to the center of the larger panel with the foam tape. I secured the completed gift card holder to the card base, centered along the card's upper edge.
I stamped a birthday sentiment from the cute Hoppy Day set onto the card base with Clear Embossing & Watermark ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I stamped three lily pads from the Hero Florals Lotus set and an adorable frog from the Hoppy Day set with Intens-ified Black Ink onto white cardstock. I colored the images with colored pencils and then die cut the images with the coordinating Hero Florals Lotus Frame Cuts and the Hoppy Day Frame Cuts. I added more dimension to the frog by die cutting extra shapes and then gluing them together with Precision Glue. I secured all of the images to the gift card holder and then finished the card with a trio of Sunset Enamel Dots.
Using the same design and the same basic supplies, it was very easy to make a few extra cards for different occasions. For my second card, I made a few simple changes. I made the card base with Paradise cardstock and I die cut the back panel of the gift card holder from Adriatic cardstock. I also stamped a lovely script sentiment from the Hero Florals Lotus set onto the card base. And this time, for variety, I stamped the beautiful lotus blossom, also from the Hero Florals Lotus set, for the focal point.
For my final card, I made the card base with Kiwi cardstock, I die cut the back panel of the gift card holder from Adriatic cardstock, and I stamped the Circular Grid Bold Prints pattern with Tide Pool ink. I also embossed a different, but equally punny sentiment, from the Hoppy Day set onto the card. For an entirely different look, I stamped and colored a pair of peaceful yoga frogs and secured them to the gift card holder.
