Turn Those Dies Upside Down!

I remember the very first time I saw something unusual when a stamp set was upside down on my desk and turned that into a card. It taught me something I still use to this day which is to look at EVERY product from multiple angles to see if another use pops out at me.

That is exactly what I did with the Arches Infinity Dies when I got them too. They are SO cute for making rainbows, for putting little doors into trees, for creating curved pops of colors, etc. But when I turned them upside down, I saw YOU. Or U.

So today I thought I'd use that as a word to add a little colorful pop to a greeting by layering three of them to form a cheery "U" to go with my Luggage Tag Alphabet die-cut greetings.

For the first card, I started by masking off a stripe on a card front with 1" Post-It® tape. Then I put it onto a sticky mat in my MISTI, and inked up the Mini Hearts Bold Prints stamp in Dandelion ink and stamped that over the tape. Before removing the tape I also ink blended some Dandelion ink at the edges of the tape just to add definition to the open space.

I did the LOVE die cuts in black and white and layered them. So fun.

Speaking of die cutting, I do NOT de-tab my alphabet dies. I leave them clipped together and run them through my die cutting machine with a half sheet of cardstock – then I just pop whatever letters I'm not using into the stamp pocket and they are ready for the next crafty session.

While I already had my brush inked up and a whole alphabet cut out I made a second card with a little simpler format – no stamping this time.

I hope this encourages you to look at your crafty tools in a new way. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have an awesome day.
