Use Your Bold Prints to Create Easy, Circular Focal Points

Hi, everybody! It's Maria here and today I'm sharing some inspiration for our current Stay Crafty With Hero Circles Challenge, which you can enter now through January 13 for a chance to win a $50 Hero Arts gift card!

For today's card I decided to use the Etched Winter Swirls Bold Prints stamp to create a circular focal point. I started out by stamping my background two times. The first time I stamped in Embossing & Watermark Ink on Pitch Black cardstock. Then, I heat embossed it in clear to create a subtle but eye-catching background piece. Next, I heat embossed again but this time I used silver embossing powder on white cardstock.

I used Reactive inks in Taffy, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, Splash and Blue Raspberry to ink blend my white and silver background. When I was done I used a paper towel to buff any excess ink from the surface of the embossed image. I added a little bit of extra detail using some Copic markers. Next, I used my Nesting Circle Infinity Dies to cut a bright and colorful focal point from my ink-blended piece.

I cut the black embossed background down just a sliver and adhered it to a white card base. Then I used foam tape to add my colorful focal point to the card. The contrast between the black background and the colorful Reactive inks really made my focal point pop off the card. You can try this by using different (solid) colors for the background and choosing colors for the focal point that will contrast and make your focal point stand out.

I finished my card off by adding a sentiment from the Rainbow HeroScape set. I heat embossed the sentiment by stamping in Onyx Pigment Ink and then using clear embossing powder. I added some sequins from the Icicle Sequins mix and my card was done.

This is such a quick and easy way to make your card pop. If you decide to give it a try I'd love to hear what color combos you used and loved. Leave me a comment below and share what worked for you!

Have an awesome day!
