Video: Woodland Forest Stencil with Texture Paste

Good morning everyone. It's Dana Joy here with you today. For today's card we are going to do a little bit of stenciling using the new Woodland Forest stencil along with texture paste and Hero Arts inks .

Watch the video below to see how this card came to be (or click HERE to watch on YouTube).

To create my card I used the Woodland Forest stencil with texture paste on Mist cardstock. I colored the texture paste with Soft Brown and Cup O'Joe inks. Mixing in the color to the white texture paste allowed me to custom color my design.

I set this panel aside to dry and worked on a sentiment strip and critter. Pulling out the Love You Deerly stamp set, I stamped a sentiment in Cup O' Joe ink on Sand cardstock. The adorable deer is from the same set and I colored it with Copic markers.

I trimmed down a piece of Sand cardstock using the Rectangle Infinity Dies and layered my mist stencil panel on top. I adhered this panel to a Dove White Side Folded Card . The sentiment strip and deer are popped up with foam tape. A white gelly roll pen was used to add faux stitching to the sentiment strip.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you enjoy the tutorial. See ya back here soon.

Leanne in Cali,

Hi HA and Dana -
What a beautiful card! Dana, I would especially like to thank you for two terrific tips. First, since I am new to die-cutting (at least for card-making… I used to use it all the time as a teacher for making bulletin board decorations), I did not realize that I could be cutting ONLY the frames around the main portions of cardfronts and saving the inner rectangles for other projects. I have been using many layers and, frankly, the card front becomes rather heavy that way. I love your advice about cutting out the center of the rectangle and saving it. That’s very economical! Also, I never thought to smoosh (smush?) my ink pad and use it to color my paste. Genius.

I love the finished card and thank you for the video. I really enjoyed it.
Blessings,
Lori S in PA
