Each week we come to you live from the FSJ studio to share cardmaking ideas and tutorials that are sure to jumpstart your creativity - and we bet you'll learn something new too! Today, let's take a look at one of our recent Tips, Tools and Techniques videos which focuses on using stencils and modeling paste.
Kim started off this tutorial by adding modeling paste to the Polka Dot Wall stencil, on three different panels of cardstock. Then, she added color in three different ways. This gorgeous birthday card features shades of blue PanPastel blended over the polka dots. The modeling paste picks up more of the PanPastel, creating the darker shading on the dots. This is such an easy technique - but makes such a big impact!
The second card features the modeling paste polka dots on a Cool Pool panel of cardstock. But after it dried, Kim added some Cool Pool ink over the top. In this case, the modeling paste doesn't pick up as much color, so this darkened just the background in a dreamy under-the-sea sort of way!
Lastly, Kim added her stencil back on to mask some of the beautiful background, and added Jane Davenport's Scallop Shell Squid Ink over the top of the stencil. This allowed her to target just the dots with the extra layer of ink.
