Enza back with you today to share the second of three blog posts featuring the new
Cut and Emboss Folders. If you have missed the
first post, you can find it here.
The folders I'm showcasing today are the following:
Blooming Sprigs,
Dotted Lace, and
Flora Banner. I created cards that are totally different from one another, as my goal was to showcase the versatility of these products through a variety of techniques.
For the first card, I used the
Blooming Sprigs Cut and Emboss Folder.
I have to say I'm not a colorist by all means, but I thought I would give it a try, considering the gorgeous cluster of flowers this folder features. After embossing my 4”x5.25” white card panel, I used alcohol markers to color the images. With the exception of the big flower in the center, the other flowers and leaves are pretty tiny, so I decided to add some shading with colored pencils – I had more control, and was able to apply additional color as needed without having to go back and blend everything again.
I then stamped and heat-embossed my sentiment onto black card stock, added some clear drops, and adhered the panel to my A2 card base with foam adhesive. The focus on this card is the gorgeous embossed image, so I decided to keep the embellishments to a minimum.
The second card features the
Dotted Lace Cut and Emboss Folder.
Again, I embossed the card panel, which was cut out of smooth white card stock, and colored the background by blending several shades of Distress Oxide Inks. I love the dainty look of this folder! Next, I stamped and heat-embossed my sentiment on a piece of white card stock, and matted it with black card stock to make it stand out more. I used foam dots to adhere it to the center of the panel, and added black and yellow enamel dots for a fun look.
My last card for today uses the
Flora Banner Cut and Emboss Folder.
This is the simplest of the three; no coloring, no mixed media, but just coordinating elements that make the embossed design pop. I chose smooth white card stock for the panel, matted it with a solid coral card stock, and adhered it directly to my A2 card base. I happened to find a floral die cut that mimicked the shape of the embossed flowers and coordinated perfectly in terms of color. After placing some gold embroidery thread behind it, I used foam adhesive to stick it in place.
Again, I heat-embossed the sentiment on black card stock, and added enamel dots in the center of the little flowers.
