Spellbinders has curated a collection of 30 colors of Distress Oxide inks to coordinate with the 30 shades of our  Color Essentials cardstock . Pick your favorite colors or start collecting them all today! In today’s video, Kim shares some of her favorite tools for working with Distress Oxide inks. They include  sponge daubers ,  misting bottles ,  paint brushe s  and a non-porous sheet. The magic of Distress Oxide inks is that they react with water and create unlimited possibilities for fun techniques. Kim shares 5 of her favorites:

1. Blended Gradient Color

This technique is the starting point for many creative ideas. Load up the sponge dauber with color and spread ink onto a cardstock panel. Use one color, or blend multiple colors together. (Use a separate dauber for each color.) In today’s video you’ll see just how Kim blended three shades together seamlessly by layering and sponging colors together.

2. Blended Gradient With Stencil/Water

Begin with the blended color technique seen above, but then we’ll add another fun step. Once it’s dry, lay a stencil on top and tape in place. Use a misting bottle and spritz water over the panel. Because Oxide Distress inks react with water, the color with change wherever water hits. Blot panel with a dry paper towel to remove excess water and then remove the stencil.

3. Highlight Embossed Texture

Spread shades of ink across a cardstock panel and then emboss with your favorite embossing folder. Next, sand over the texture with a fine sanding block to remove some of the color from the raised area. Alternately, you can add additional ink gently over the top of the embossed texture to make the pattern POP.

4. Direct Ink Pad to Cardstock

Swipe ink pads across a cardstock panel to create rainbow stripes. Don’t worry about getting it perfect, but don’t touch pads together on paper and contaminate the colors. Use a paint brush and a cup of water to brush over stripes, causing them to blend and flow together.

5. Splatter Rainbow

Tap ink pad onto a non-porous surface. Then load up a paintbrush with water and dip into color and then splatter color onto cardstock panel. Then, mist with additional water to blend colors further.
