Expressions of Faith Collection | Cardmaking Ideas with Jenny

Hello all my crafty friends, how are you all doing today? It’s Jenny here, joining you to share the two card projects I’ve created with the Spellbinders Expressions of Faith Collection.

What's New at Spellbinders | Expressions of Faith Collection - includes a beautiful etched die cross, a Glimmer and die Cross set and lastly, a lovely Glimmer faith-based sentiment set. Ideal for holiday cards, baptisms, sympathy cards, Easter and more.

The Collection features a mix of Glimmer plates and dies you can use to create a cross, or add faith sentiments to your other supplies.  I was excited to see that the Glimmer sentiments feature a coordinating outline die, super helpful for that perfect popped up sentiment - no fussy cutting needed!

Walk In Faith

My first card features the Gleaming Cross Glimmer Plates. I glimmered three of the short plates, and one of the longer plates,  plus the centre in order to build the cross. I used one of my favorite Glimmer foils - Aura  -  a beautiful holographic gold foil, which pairs so well with FSJ Whip Cream cardstock.  I die-cut the foiled images out with the co-ordinating dies and set aside while I worked on my background.

My background uses FSJ Bubble Gum cardstock, which I dry embossed with the FSJ Love Stripes embossing folder. Dry embossing a background is perfect for adding subtle texture and interest to a card, without detracting from the focal image. For interest I added some white acrylic paint splatters. I decided to add one more color to my project, trimming down my embossed piece slightly  to 5.5.” x 4” and adding two strips of FSJ Peaches & Cream cardstock on the vertical edges, then mounting it with dry adhesive onto a Whip Cream card base.

Putting the cross together is quite straightforward.  I mounted the centre first on my card panel, using a double layer of small foam squares.  I then popped each part of the cross on just a single layer of foam squares, allowing each to easily slip under the cross centre. My sentiment is from the Faith Glimmer Sentiments, foiled in Aura to match the cross onto Peaches & Cream cardstock, die cut out and then  popped up on  foam tape. To finish, I added some peach pearls from the Meadow Pearls embellishments which co-ordinate perfectly, and a few drops of Nuvo Dream Drops in Lemon Twist.

God Is Love

My second card features the Kaleidoscope Cross dies.  This creates a two-layered die cut cross, similar to the other Kaleidoscope shapes Spellbinders has created. I carried on the pink/peach/cream color  combo on this card. I used the Bubble Gum and Peaches & Cream cardstock to die-cut the  layers of my  cross (Peach is the top layer), then adhered each double layer together with liquid glue.

This time my background panel is Whip Cream cardstock, which I dry embossed with the Bright Days embossing folder. The radiating light beams are perfectly placed to act as a backdrop to this cross! I added a few splatters of Rose Shimmer Spray for some subtle sparkle then I trimmed the panel down to 4” x 5.25”. To bring in the Peach again, I mounted it onto a panel of Peaches & Cream cardstock allowing a small ⅛” border around the edge, before mounting onto a Whip Cream card base.

One again my sentiment is from the Faith Glimmer Sentiments, foiled in Magenta Foil onto Bubble Gum cardstock and die-cut out with the coordinating die. This time, I created my cross first before mounting it, adding the central piece with a foam square onto the vertical diecut, then mounting it over the horizontal piece with foam squares.  I added a final layer of foam squares to mount the cross on the base (lining it up with the dry embossing).  I added the sentiment with foam squares and as a final embellishment, added some pink rhinestones that matched the foil.

Spellbinders Supplies:

Other supplies

Lemon Twist Nuvo Dream Drops, Rose shimmer spritz, Pink rhinestones, White acrylic spray. I hope these projects have inspired you when using the Faith Collection - change up the colors, foils, embellishments, and backgrounds to bring a different look - and of course these products don’t have to be used to create cards. You may want to create them to be stand alone die cuts to hang on the wall, or maybe even a bookmark. Enjoy, and stay safe everyone. Jenny
