Hi crafty friends! I’m Sandi MacIver, and I’m thrilled to introduce my very first collection with Spellbinders - the Felt Décor Collection! Inspired by my love of gnomes and felt stitching, this collection was born from a desire to create charming, seasonal décor for tiered trays, bread bowls, and cozy home displays.
The star of the collection is Fergus the Gnome, a whimsical 3D standing figure rooted in folklore and fun. Designing Fergus was my first priority, followed closely by two coordinating embellishment die sets that allow you to dress him up for different holidays and seasons. Whether you’re a die-cutting enthusiast, felt crafter, or gnome lover, this new Spellbinders collection offers creative possibilities for festive DIY décor!

The Fergus the Gnome Die Set lets you stitch together an adorable, 6-inch-tall 3D felt gnome—no sewing machine required! With three main components (the body, coat, and hat), this set is designed for easy assembly. All the stitching holes are pre-cut into the dies, making it beginner-friendly and perfect for crafters of all skill levels. Plus, I’ve created step-by-step video tutorials to guide you through the entire process and help ensure crafting success.
Each piece is easily cut using your favorite die-cutting machine, and when paired with Spellbinders Merino Wool Felt, the result is a smooth, dense, and pliable project base that’s ideal for hand stitching. Whether you’re new to felt crafting or a seasoned maker, Fergus is a fun and rewarding DIY décor project you’ll love to create!
Once you’ve stitched together your Fergus the Gnome, it’s time to dress him up for the season! The Winter and Christmas Embellishment Die Sets offer endless possibilities to customize Fergus with festive flair. For a winter-themed gnome, decorate his hat and coat with delicate snowflakes, as shown in the image above. Cool tones, such as icy blues and purples, beautifully capture the essence of the season.
Prefer a more traditional holiday look? Style Fergus in classic red and green for a Christmas gnome perfect for mantel, tree, or tabletop décor. You can even create a New Year’s Fergus with glittery stars.
