Layered Snowflakes Christmas Card Tutorial with Hot Foil Sentiments

Hi, crafty friends! Lea Lawson here with you today, creating a card featuring the beautiful new Layered Snowflakes die set. I’m sharing my step-by-step process in easy to follow photos and instructions!

Step by Step Instructions:

To start, turn on your Glimmer Hot Foil System, then let it heat up. Once the green indicator light notifies that the platform is ready, place the Snowflake Kisses Sentiments plate on it and hit the timer button. Once the timer button stops flashing, prep your Prism hot foil and white cardstock. Remove the platform from the base, then place the Polished Brass foil pretty side down on the hot foil plate. Place the white cardstock over top, then layer the plate sandwich on top and run through a Platinum 6 diecut machine.

TIP: I like to add a cardstock shim in the middle of the glimmer sandwich to help press plates' foil more accurately.

Die-cut the sentiments with the coordinating 1-piece die. Select the sentiment you would like to feature on your card & set aside - I’ve picked “Snowflake Kisses”. You now have many sentiments that you can use on future cards, which is a feature I LOVE about this press plate set! Die-cut the outline layer from the Layered Snowflakes die set from white glitter foam Die-cut the two larger inner snowflake dies from the Aquamarine mirror metallic cardstock. Die-cut the two smaller snowflake dies from the Antique White glitter metallic cardstock. Die-cut the two snowflake dies from the Snowflake Wreath die set from Antique White pearl metallic cardstock. Next, we are going to 3D emboss a Seaside cardstock panel with the previously released Streamline 3D embossing folder. (I love to freshen up older products with new ones to get the most out of my crafting stash!) The best plate sandwich for running this through your Platinum 6 is Platform Base A, 3D Embossing Folder with paper inside, and Adapter Plate D.

TIP (not pictured): To help the paper not crack, I like to mist the back of my cardstock with a little bit of water. Some crafters prefer to mist the front, but I have found the back works best for me!

Mount the seaside panel to an A2-sized white card base with foam tape. I chose to feature the debossed side, rather than the embossed side. I love this versatile option that you can choose when using embossing folders! Layer & adhere the large snowflake to the card front with liquid glue. Add small foam squares to the back of the smaller snowflakes, then mount them to the card front. Add thin foam strips to the back of the sentiment, then adhere them to the bottom of the large snowflake. Accent the card with Capri Blue self-adhesive crystals & Aura sequins to finish. I find using the Handy Tool Kit helpful when adhering embellishments to the card.
