Hi, friends! I’m Lauren Taylor Made and I’m so excited to be here on the Spellbinders Blog to share with you two cards using the Space Friends set in collaboration with Simon Hurley along with some amazing Spellbinders supplies. These cards bring a cosmic touch with embossed textures, vibrant ink blending, and fun space-themed elements. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or sending encouragement, these designs are perfect for adding a stellar touch to your crafting projects!
For the first card, I created a layered background by die-cutting panels from Silver, Lilac Blossom, and Cosmic Sky Cardstock using the Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies, embossing the top layer with the Plaster 3D Embossing Folder for extra texture. I splattered Silver Lining Lunar Paste across the panel and painted the edges to add shimmer. The sentiment, “May all your wishes come true,” was hot foiled in silver, while the space dogs and planet were stamped, colored with alcohol markers, and cut using coordinating dies. I adhered the layers to a card base and used foam adhesive for dimension, finishing with silver-embossed constellation accents. The sentiment is complete with the stamped message inside with Midnight Snack ink.
For the second card, I cut Peridot and Teal Topaz cardstock panels using the Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies, embossing the Teal Topaz panel with the Cascading Streamers Embossing Folder for a fun background. I die-cut a white oval and ink-blended Overzealous and Tropical Tango inks to create a smooth ombre effect, stamping the sentiment in Teal Topaz ink. The alien and spaceship were stamped, colored, and die-cut, with the spaceship’s glass dome inked separately using Breakup Blue ink. I assembled the layers with foam adhesive for dimension and added Capri Blue Color Essentials Gems to complete the cosmic look.
