Photosynthesis & Cards with Marie Heiderscheit

Hello, friends! Marie here again from Marie Nicole Designs. I have three cards to share featuring the Photosynthesis Collection by Simon Hurley. This collection is so fun! Lots of florals and a few ways to create pretty backgrounds. Not to mention the glimmer sentiments that are perfect for any type of card!

Let’s take a look.

SIMPLE BOUQUET

Whenever I create a set of cards I like to make them all in the same color family. Then, I can switch up the card design, but they end up looking very coordinated in the end. For my cards today, I chose a vintage palette. Pinks, purples, and muted greens give an aged look.

I started by die-cutting a few of the flowers in the Floral Stems Etched Dies set. I then inked them up with some muted colors and set them aside.

Then, I used the Modern Stripes Glimmer Plates to add foiled stripes to the background on an angle. Such a beautiful gold accent against the ink-blended pinks and purples.

Then I adhered my arrangement of flowers and added the glimmered sentiment over the stems. For a finishing embellishment, I added a few sparkling sequins from my stash.

FRAMED FLORALS

For my second card, I created a mini slimline using the Daffodil Frame Etched Dies. This set cuts out the lovely daffodils in a frame, and then you can cut additional pieces to layer over the design, resulting in more dimension. Again, I colored the flowers with muted tones, and ink blended the background with the same pinks from my first card.

Once my flowers were assembled I popped them onto a mini slimline card base, and then embellished them with more sequins. I added another foiled sentiment to the bottom.

I absolutely love how I can foil all the sentiments once, cut them out with the coordinating die, and have a handful of sentiments to add to my cards.

POTTED GREENERY

For my third and final card today, I used the Zig Zag Chevron Etched Die and the Ceramic Vases dies together. I also recycled the card panel that I cut the Framed Daffodils from. I layered the Chevron behind the opening that the Daffodils were cut from after ink blending with the same ink colors I used for my previous two cards.

Then, I layered my Ceramic Pots in front of the offset Chevron window.

Now, these pots are so fun, because you can put out the shape, OR you can cut and then use a design plate to imprint a design onto the pots. The vase in the very front of my trio has the branch design impressed into it, which I ink blended over. The other two pots I left blank so you could see the difference.

I filled the pots with some greenery that I again ink blended with some muted greens. And just as I did with the first two cards, I added the glimmer sentiment and the sequins to finish.
